Prekindergarten - grade 5

Faith Formation for prekindergartners through grade 5

PreK-5th Grade Summer Sunday School

We have some exciting things planned for Summer Sunday School this year, but we also want to give you some extra time with your family as well. This year, we'll be meeting for three special Sunday School sessions on June 25, July 9, and August 6. We will not be holding children's Sunday School on any other Sundays this summer. However, the Sundays we do meet will be extra fun. We'll check up on our plants in the garden, listen to a Bible story, and experience making our own music with boomwhackers and tone chimes. We may have a few other surprises thrown in there as well. You won't want to miss it. Please contact Jamie Jurkovich with any questions.

2017 Bible Day Camp

Bethlehem Lutheran Church is hosting an exciting opportunity for Christian growth for your child(ren) called Bible Day Camp! During the week of June 12–16, your children will have the opportunity to participate in faith forming learning and fun! What is Bible Day Camp? Bible Day Camp is a Christian Education Program offered in partnership with Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp. This is not a vacation Bible school but is designed to introduce Christian Camp Ministry to youth without the need to stay away from home. The Sky Ranch Bible Camp Team will bring this mountain high camp experience right into our own church building!

The Sky Ranch Day Camp Team is staffed with trained college-aged individuals. They will lead the program with the assistance of volunteers. Friends and neighbors of your child(ren) are welcome to attend, so please invite them! Campers ages 3–5th grade in the fall will be involved in Bible studies, arts and crafts, worship, recreational activities, and more! (Potty trained children are welcome to attend by themselves and those who are still learning are welcome to attend accompanied by a caregiver.) Children entering grades 6–12 are encouraged to register as a camp helper.

The daily schedule is as follows:

  • Campers age 3–entering Kindergarten: Monday, June 12–Thursday, June 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Campers entering grades 1-5: Monday, June 12–Thursday, June 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; Friday, June 17, from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 noon.
All camp closing program celebration:

Thursday evening, June 16, with a potluck from 6:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m. During this time, the campers will present a short program with highlights from their week.

The cost of the program is a snack to share. Sometime around June 1, we will send a link to a snack sign up through email. To register, use our online camp registration form. Registration deadline is June 1. If you prefer to register via paper forms, please contact the church office at 303-776-3290. We can't wait to see you this year as our journey in Christ continues!

If you have any questions, please contact Deaconess Sarah Loberg, Faith Formation Assistant, (303-776-3290).

If you would like to volunteer at Bible Day Camp (6th graders–adults), please use our online camp volunteer form and sign up for the area and date that interests you!

Farewell Garden

Garden flyer 2016 1pgCAugust 21 marked our last official day of Sunday School in the garden for this season. The garden is a special place and had surprises for us each Sunday. This year, we were blessed with an abundance of purple beans, monster-sized squash, and some gorgeous pumpkins. There’s always something to do in the garden, and the kids learned lots of lessons without even realizing there was a lesson. We discovered the perils of going barefoot, the challenges of getting certain plants to sprout, the joy of harvesting a variety of vegetables, and the comfort of seeing the garden’s dependable cycle of life to death to life again. The garden is full of fresh air and fun, and we’ll look forward to being there again.

Holy Communion Class

We have an open communion practice at Bethlehem. We say "all are welcome" to God's table of grace. That means children are welcome. Each year we offer a communion class for our second graders to help in their understanding of this gift. This class is for parents and children. For more information, contact Pr. Peterson or Deaconess Kristen.

Communion Class Fall 2016

October 2 and 9, 1:00-2:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall

Every fall, we invite our second and third graders to learn more about this precious gift of Holy Communion. We also have fun, stomping grapes and we get creative as they make their own communion chalices. This class is for the kids and their parents to share together. For those who are interested, we will also do acolyte training.

Please let Pastor Peterson know if you plan to attend as we need to order the pottery chalices.
