2016 Nicaragua Mission Trip slideshow Here are some wonderful sets of pictures from the children's project and other programs in Nicaragua. Pictures are worth a thousand words! The explanations are interpretations of what Marta, the director of the Children's Project, wrote about each set. Children's Project Each day, after the younger children have finished attending the preschool, the first through sixth graders come to help in the classes such as Spanish and Math and we also give a small devotion based on the word of God. The scholarship recipients help during this activity. Also, we give them a snack because many times these children arrive at their homes and they have nothing to eat. Thanks to God that this project is a reality and thanks and gratitude to every donor; these children can learn the word of God, improve in their classes, and have some food to eat. We thank each one of you for giving these children a better world (and allowing them to make a better world as well).
Building Houses These are pictures of the blessings of the first two houses that were constructed. You may recognize Marcial, one of our scholarship recipients and the young man in a picture at the top with his mother. The first house was for Marcial's family. The family had only mud for a home after the collapse of their mud brick house. The second house was for the woman caring for four children, two of which are twins who are not hers but were abandoned with her. In one picture, you can see her collapsed mud bricks from her house on the side. We wish to express our profound gratitude on behalf of these families for the many generous donations that allowed them to have safe shelter. A Third House This year three houses were built thanks to the donations from The Nicaragua Project. We feel so very thankful to God for making it possible for these families to have what they needed so much (a house). May God pour out abundant blessings on each one. This is a series of pictures for the third house for the family who found themselves homeless after the grandmother died. Once again, our sincere gratitude to each donor. Greetings At The Children's Center These are our pictures from the greeting at the children center. It is happening under the gazebo we built for them two years ago. These are the people who stayed around after many hours to greet us, since we were very late in arriving. The dancers are a dance troupe taught by Jossi, one of the scholarship recipients, and consists of scholarship recipients. It gives them pride in their country and in themselves. For some, it is like their family. Preschoolers at the Children's Center Right now there are 85 preschoolers enrolled in the preschool. Enrollment has gone as high as 115. Each morning the ones who arrive early join hands to sing songs and play games, such as the hokey pokey. This year, they obtained some "horses", swings and planters made from discarded tires. Fania, an older child, is posing on one of the "horses". Inside, they are divided into three class rooms according to their age, ranging from young 3-year olds to older 4-year olds. They are seen here in one room playing games as well. Dave Twait, a board member and participant in the trip, is seen taking a picture in the lower right corner of the last picture. Water Filter Delivery These pictures were taken by Mark Holste, one of the water filter deliverers. We donated 84 filters this year, giving the gift of health with clean water.
