Special Worship Events

Midweek Lenten Worship

Our midweek Lenten Worship focuses on the incarnation. Holden Evening Prayer sets our focus on God incarnate with the words of the Magnificat. We will explore the human and divine presence of Jesus through his relationships with other people: Mary and Martha, Judas, Pontius Pilate, Thomas, and Mary Magdalene. Additionally, we will focus on our own presence through different types of prayer each week.

Sunday Lenten Worship

Our Sunday worship during Lent will focus around the assigned lectionary readings. In keeping with tradition, we will "remove the alleluias" for the season, bringing them back on Easter. This practice segues into a mini-focus on Why Worship. Each week during announcements we will learn briefly about a part of worship and why we do it. If you would like to learn more about that part of worship, you are welcome to attend Adult Forum that day. After many requests from those who participated in last year's Thomas Mass, we will hold a Thomas Mass at 8:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, March 29.

Ryssby Service

g ryssby 2011 church 2

Ryssby Church is located at 9000 N 63rd St, Longmont, in Boulder County, Colorado. The church was built in 1882 by Swedish immigrants. A dedicated committee from First Lutheran Church in Longmont, the descendant congregation of the Ryssby and Elim churches, maintains the church, organizes events and funds continuous improvement projects. The church hosts weddings, church picnics, an annual Midsummer service and Christmas candlelight services in early December. g ryssby 2011 inside 3Bethlehem periodically hosts a service and old-fashioned church picnic at the Ryssby Church. The liturgy and hymns are chosen from those used by Scandinavian immigrants in the late 19th/early 20th century. g ryssby 2011 games 1

The potluck picnic and games are fun for all! Check with the Gather ministry to find out when the next Ryssby Service and picnic are scheduled.
